CABERNET FRANC ICEWINE 2005 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LAKEVIEW CELLARS
Very light orange ambering red colour. Peppery, sweet, apple peel nose. Very sweet, stewed apple sauce and apple peel flavours with a slightly sour, greenish, finish. I am distressed by the high alcohol, peppery, acetic, volatile acidity on the single bottle sampled, which are unacceptable. Tasted once. CSPC 53397

TASTING NOTE: Many cab franc icewines are quite pale. This is bright and deeply coloured with a plummy hue. Dessert in itself with flavours mindful of strawberry cheesecake, or perhaps strawberry-rhubarb pie (the mind is set off in many directions here). It's medium-full bodied, very sweet with a sour, slightly acetic edge providing the acid support. Sweet and sour on the finish, with excellent length.
