FAZZIO MALBEC 2019 Tupungato, Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LA POSTA
This appealing, entry-level, crowd-pleaser has a very deep intense purple colour. The nose is spicy and very juicy - shades of raspberry jam. On the palate it is dry and medium to medium-light bodied, with those spicy, juicy, bright, raspberry fruit flavours with a lingering, crisp, unoaked finish. Not much complexity or even mouthfeel, it’s easy to drink. Suggesting that it’s worthy of an astronomical 93-points, however, may well insult some experienced professional tasters. The 2014 that last appeared in Vintages on August 6, 2016 at $15.95 which seems to me to be a much more appropriate price for what’s in the glass. At the same price in today’s release, Australia’s MITOLO JESTER CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2018 offers much more well structured, rich, ripe fruit. CSPC 444687

TASTING NOTE: This has such interesting, sweet and fragrant, violet-like florals with rich purple fruit and a faint, stony edge. The palate is very plush and rich and the velvety tannins carry so long and even. Black-cherry and cocoapowder finish. A more serious vintage for this wine. Drink or hold.
