Tasting note: Until recently, Green Spot was a closely guarded Irish treasure, exported only through the false-bottom carry-on bags of enterprising tourists … The whisky’s flavour is sweetly malty, with hints of orange peel and honey, lifted by exotic spices, predominantly cardamom. It’s delicate enough to match with food, but a classic way to serve it is as an apéritif. Part of the blend is aged in old sherry casks, and the flavour comes through in a whisper. … Despite its considerable spiciness, the whisky stays remarkably smooth.
