EL ENEMIGO CHARDONNAY 2019 Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
EL ENEMIGO |
What a lovely Chardonnay - a release highlight. Bright straw colour with an intense, gently cedary, complex, lemon meringue nose with some slightly spicy, ripe Anjou pear notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, very slightly spicy, intense, complex, elegantly toasty, ripe lemon-apple meringue flavours with a lingering, minerally, well balanced, cedary finish. Note that this Chardonnay spent 9 months in French oak (35% new) partially under flor and has 13.5% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 7.5 g/L total acidity with lot number 21330 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: Cooked apple, lemon curd and light vanilla on the nose, together with stone, mineral and some dried flowers. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and beautiful fruit. Hints of vanilla and pie crust in the aftertaste. Always great quality for the price. Drink or hold [into the mid-2030s]. Score - 96 (jamessuckling.com, April 22, 2021) |
