‘SIWUCHA’ VODKA Poland |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

This rye vodka has a clear colour. Odd, slightly herbal, coarse nose reminiscent of rubbing alcohol nose. Ditto on the palate. Perhaps the worst, cheapest, short cork closure I have ever seen! Tasted once - perhaps it was an off bottle. |

Tasting note: Possibly the single most outstanding achievement by any entrant at [the 2002 International Spirits Challenge] was the award of Trophy status to Siwucha, a premium Polish vodka … A rye vodka with 40% [alcohol by volume], the brand was launched only four years ago. The presentation is very traditional, a [500 mL] bottle with a cork and a wax closure…Ian Wisniewski, chairman of the judging panel for vodka, explained the panel’s decision: “We blind tasted forty-one vodkas. Siwucha stood head and shoulders above the rest because it has a bigger, rounder flavour than people expect from a vodka [this is the first vodka to ever win Trophy status at the International Spirits Challenge].
