Legend has it that this citrus/herbal, bitter-sweet liqueur is named for a famous event in Hungary’s distant past. In the seventh century, a Hungarian wastrel nobleman was out hunting. He spotted a magnificent stag in the forest. As he took aim at it, he suddenly saw a burning cross appear between its antlers. Taking this as a sign to change his ‘bad old ways’, he instantly reformed. The only thing he retained from his forgotten past was the recipe for this fabulous digestive, a secret recipe that has been passed down through the generations. Enjoy chilled with a lemon twist after a fine meal. |
