‘STROH 54’ Original Spiced Rum, Austria |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Sebastian Stroh |
Medium ambering orange colour. Very intense, sweet, pungent, spicy ginger and caramel nose, which has tones ressembling airplane glue nose. Intense, very peppery, alcoholic, pungent, very dry, gingerbread flavours that go on and on. An acquired taste and not for everyone. |

Tasting note: Buttery, sticky, sweet burnt sugar spice nose. Add top notes of citrus peel and a whiff of baked apples and the picture gets bigger, along with the big 54 % alcoholic whack, which is there only in the name. Drying gingery spice and beautiful seamless flavour into a lengthy finish. Score – 93. (Patricia Noonan, Wine Access, “First In Line E-Report”, Nov. 1, 2003) |
