ZUCCARDI JOSÉ MALBEC 2020 Valle de Uco, Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer
In 2020 after 30 years the LCBO suspended all preview Vintages tastings for accredited wine writers. Last year previews were reinstated for store consultants BUT wine writers were no longed allowed to attend. The LCBO's reply to a request for reinstatement said that we should get samples from producers/wine agents. It states that that our unpaid-for independent reviews no longer “best serve our (LCBO) customers.” Unable to taste. CSPC 20988

TASTING NOTE: José Zuccardi is generally one of the dense, more backward wines in the bodega's line up, made with one eye on the future. Combining Malbec and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, with two years' ageing in foudres, it's a taut, firm, tethered wine with blackberry and blackcurrant leaf flavours and a firm, slightly chewy finish. Drink date: 2026-2035. Score - 94 (timatkin.com, Argentina Special Report 2024) Price $ 46.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
Tasting Date vintages release - October 19, 2024
Cases bought 162 (6 bottles per case)
