| GOLD VIDAL ICEWINE 2022 VQA Niagara Peninsula, Ontario |
| Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
INNISKILLIN |
| Bright medium-plus yellow colour, it has an intense, attractive, very sweet, citrusy, Seville orange marmalade nose with some bright, honeyed, caramel-apricot notes. Very sweet but balanced, it is medium-plus bodied, quite rich and fairly creamy with spicy, honeyed, apricot-Seville-orange-marmalade flavours with a lingering, fairly bright, mouthfilling, tropical, creme brulee finish. Richer than the Cabernet Franc icewine, this Vidal has 9.5% alcohol, 279 g/L residual sugar and a hefty 10.9 g/L total acidity. I suggest serving not too cold in order to taste all the flavours. Fermented in new French oak at 15ÂșC for 16 days after which it received three months in barrel before bottling. Because of high total acidity, this Vidal icewine can evolve and improve significantly with extended temperature-controlled aging of 10+ years |

| TASTING NOTE: Dip a Golden Delicious apple slice in caramel to get an idea of how fabulous this wine smells. Additional aromas include peach, orange and ginger. Flavors like graham crackers slathered in guava icing, honeycomb and peach glide along a soft, thick palate. The acidity is on the soft side, but the \"yum factor\" is high. Editors' Choice.
