A **+ Release Highlight when it appeared November 15, 2003. Attractive light gold colour. Very peaty, intense, smoky, honeyed, plum nose. Well balanced, rounded, rather viscous, rich, smoky, peaty plum flavours. Lovely balance. A winner! |

Cooley Distillery is at the leading edge of reintroducing peating to Irish Whiskey. Tasting note: I remember marveling at the intricate tile work using Connemara marble and now I have something else to admire from that part of Ireland, in this peated offering of whisky, with its perfumed peat smoke nose, and the same again flavour wise. It has some malt sweetness which blends into a spicy finish. Score – 90. (Patricia Noonan, Wine Access, “First In Line E-Report”, Nov. 2003) |
