In 1998, the closed-since-the-1980s Benromach was purchased and re-opened by Gordon & MacPhail. Released in March 2004, ‘Traditional’ is the first from the new incarnation. It’s also the first whisky ever distilled by Gordon & MacPhail – up until now, strictly an independent bottler. To this date, this whisky is not yet age-designated. Tasting note: Colour: Pale, iridescent, greeny gold. Nose: Ozone. Flowery. Fresh mint. Herbal. Balsamic. Pine log fire. Body: Light. Drying. Palate: Earthy. Bison grass. Tree bark. Finish: Juniper. Lemon pith. Citric. Orange peels. Comment: Assertive. Aperitif. (Michael Jackson, www.benromach.com, undated) |
