LCBO Note Status A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection!
TASTING NOTE: The 2001 San Leone, an unusual blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, and Petit Verdot, is even richer and riper in aroma, very tarry and licorice-laden, dense and almost chewy in texture, very mineral from the contribution of Petit Verdot, muscular, weighty, and with an important future potential. The tannins are just beginning to unwind, and I would suggest drinking this wine between 2007 and 2018. Score - 91. (Daniel Thomases, www.erobertparker.com, April 2006) Price $ 46.95
