Hermann Wiemer was born in Bernkastel, Germany in the Mosel region, so it stands to reason he would know something about the great white grape of Germany: Riesling. In 1973, he came to New York State and established his winery on the shore of Seneca Lake. After the work by his late mentor, Dr. Konstantin Frank, Wiemer has done the most to show that Riesling can thrive in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Today, he is widely recognized as one of the US’s finest producers of all styles of Rieslings. Food match: seafood salad. |
